What to decide before writing begins.
Start with where the Sefer Torah will be used, the script you want and your preferred size. If there is an intended dedication or inauguration date, raise it at the first conversation so the work and the arrangements can be planned together.
- The script and a writing sample to discuss.
- The dimensions and finishing details.
- The scope of proofreading and documentation.
- The intended date, delivery arrangements and agreed price.
Follow the writing, sheet by sheet.
The writing progresses across sheets of parchment, called yeriot. Your order brings together the agreed details, writing progress and the photographs shared with you. This gives you a place to return to when you want an update.
A writing milestone is part of the overall process. Proofreading, corrections and finishing have their own stages, so completing the writing does not mean that the scroll is ready for delivery.
Computer checks, manual proofreading and corrections.
The Sefer Torah workflow includes computer proofreading, manual proofreading and a further computer check toward completion. Corrections are followed through before the final stages. Discuss the checks and reports included in your particular order.
Photographs and proofreading reports shared through your personal link stay alongside the order progress. You can see what has been completed and ask Shraga about the work that remains.
Plan the final stages early.
Before delivery come the agreed final checks, finishing and sewing. If you are planning a hachnasat Sefer Torah, discuss which preparations are included and which arrangements you will handle separately. It helps to settle these details before an event is organised around a date.
Send an inquiry with the script, size and timing you have in mind. A specific price and schedule can then be discussed against the work requested.
Questions before ordering
How much does a Torah scroll cost?
A quote depends on the agreed specification and scope of work. Share your preferred script, size, finishing and timing so Shraga can discuss a price for your order.
Can I see the writing before delivery?
Yes. Your personal link shows the progress and the photographs shared with you during the order.
Is the inauguration included?
The preparations and delivery arrangements are agreed for each order. Tell Shraga about your plans so it is clear what is included.
